The purpose of this website is to discuss major issues of the day from the Biblical, historical, social, and cultural perspectives. Our Founding Fathers insisted that the security, prosperity, and welfare of the Republic they were establishing, and the liberties guaranteed by the Constitution, were dependent on a citizenry that was informed, free and open dialogue, and the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves, according to the Ten Commandments of God. You may ask, “What makes you think you have anything to offer?” My answer: “I’m a citizen of this great country.”
All the major issues can be classified in one or more of three categories: 1. Religious; 2. Political (includes economic and military issues); and 3. Social. This website will present commentary in each of these categories. It has been said that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but everyone is not entitled to their own truth. If they were, truth would lose its meaning and power. Therefore, commentary on this website seeks to avoid opinion not substantiated by fact or evidence.
I am a retired military officer, high school teacher, and pastor. I am an active Christian, politically independent, and conservative in tradition and nature. Why did I choose “Curly’s Corner” as the website name? Curly was my fighter pilot callsign and corner is taken from Speaker’s Corner at Hyde Park in London which I would visit occasionally when in London. I think of this website as my “speaker’s corner.”So come on in! God’s blessings to you and to the greatest and most generous nation on earth – the U.S.A.
